Mac Repair Information - Ways To Repair A Sluggish Mac

By Robert Batchelor

It can be very frustrating to use a slow computer. It will boot up slowly and programs will not run as quickly as they should. If you have a slow Mac, there are a few things that you can do to address the problem. The following Mac repair tips will help to make your system faster.

A number of issues could be resolved by simply restarting the computer. Some programs may be using more than their allotted memory. This will make fewer resources available for other packages. A restart is often a quick way to resolve this problem.

Having too many startup items will also make the system slow. Check the number that you have by opening Login Items which can be found under Accounts when you open System Preferences. Look through the list of startup items and remove anyone that is not needed so as to release more resources.

Widgets look nice but having too many of them on your dashboard can take up a lot of valuable resources. When you clean the dashboard, there will be more memory for computer use. Simply remove any widgets that are not necessary.

No matter the size of hard drive that you have, it will eventually fill up. When your hard drive is almost full, there will be little space for system virtual memory. This means that you have to delete some files to have the needed space for the smooth running of the computer. You can buy an external hard drive to store important files that take a lot of space.

There are several Mac repair programs that could be used to remove duplicate entries and errors that build up in the hard drive. You can search online for Mac cleaners that can be used to solve this problem. The program will scan the entire hard drive and fix all problems that are discovered.
