At the suggestion of many readers, I created a print.css file for this site, meaning that now you can print any page here in a printer-friendly format. By printer-friendly I mean that only the substantial content of each page will print, so your printouts won't include the masthead, navigation elements, sidebar, newsletter sign-up form, or any ads. This works for every content page on the site, including blog entries and articles.
I did my best to ensure the printer output is formatted nicely, and I tested it quite a bit, but if you experience any serious formatting problems when printing content from this site, please let me know, and I will look into it.
If you want to see how the printed pages will look without using any paper, you can use your browser's "Print Preview..." feature.
I noticed that FireFox's Print Preview feature often adds extra spacing before or after bold text, italicized text, and links (for no reason I can comprehend). I suspect it's due to a bug in FireFox's implementation of this feature because I see the same problem on other sites too. I tested with FireFox 1.0.7, which is the latest stable version. This problem is fairly minor though and shouldn't negatively affect the readability of the content. Even so, if anyone knows a way to fix it, please let me know.
Please keep in mind that the content on this site is copyrighted, so if you wish to print content other than for personal use, such as to distribute as a classroom handout or to publish in your church bulletin (there must be some strange churches out there), be sure to request permission first. For the past year, it's been my policy to grant free reprinting/translation permission for most situations involving non-commercial use for up to five articles or blog entries.
