Renault Reveals Future Plans

By Vivian C. Reeves

Not long ago, Renault approved their new Operational Director, Tavares Carlos and furthermore, they introduced their plans for the next few years. The objective of the new director is rather hard: he has to make the Renault brand a powerful name in both Europe and America but the company also wants to penetrate the Chinese market, especially in the niche of SUVs.

They are also being aggressive with eco-technology because they are planning to add solar panels to the roofs of their factories in France. This is the largest mission of its kind in the auto industry with more than 450,000 square meters of solar panels producing 60 megawatts of electricity or enough to power a town with a population of 20,000.

The project will begin in June and is anticipated to be completed in February of next year. They hope to reduce the degree of pollution in the environment. Another project similar to this was started by Seat and they have solar panels mounted on their factories in Spain.

The corporation is also doing their best to renew trust after the industrial espionage. Renault is making every effort to end up being an attractive brand for the general public and do their best to sell high end cars. The espionage scandal has brought about some problems for their image but it is only part of their challenges. The top brass at Renault additionally admits to outdated designs and unhip image.

When Renault officially hired Laurens van den Acker as their new chief designer, radical improvements took place car designs. The new generation of Clio will almost certainly show us a work of two years and the typical opinion is that Renault excels on the car electronics and has improved on many other features as well.

Renault has been battling somewhat in the medium to superior class of cars going down from 150,000 cars sold in 2005 to just 100,000 cars last year. The new line of Renault cars are not likely to hit the market before the 2014-15 season, they must do their best to exploit those cars that sell well in their current line. The press in France think that Renault should make an effort to even out the large divide between their partner, Nissan in the amount of cars sold as Nissan has sold over four million cars while Renault has sold 2.6 million cars.

An additional concern that Renault has is the lack of presence in China but are trying to fix that between 2013 and 2016. In addition, they do not have pretty much any presence in the United States since they left decades ago. Although they currently dont have any plans to reenter the US market, they have been looking to maximize their positions in Russia and Brazil. So far, they havent had much success in India but still manufacture for this market with newer and improved car models.

Ultimately, as Renault looks to cultivate sales by 400,000 units, they will need to continue improving and innovating their current line of cars.
