A Collection of Bizarre Data Calamities

Here are a collection of some of the most unusual incidents that have led on to the person involved wanting data recovery. Please note that no names have been used only to protect the innocent. Read more and discover a few faves from the past 2 years.

Foolish Feline

A graphic design student had left her Mac-book charging on the front room floor for a couple of hours, her kitten mistook the keyboard as litter tray.

Chopper Hop

Employees of a well known telecommunications company were working against time while on board a helicopter when they accidentally dropped their portable computer.

Gone Bananas

An IT engineer left the remains of his banana peel on top of an external disk drive. The contents shortly oozed, seeped into the drive and damaged company information.

Butchered

The hard drive of a butcher shop crashed and sent it in for recovery, packaged in Styrofoam, along with the remains of some cured ham.

Shampoo Job

On a flight, a passenger packed his notebook into his main baggage with his toiletries. The shampoo leaked, right into the laptop's drive and washed the data away.

Sock Shocks

What was meant to be a minor repair job became a big one when a shopper shipped his hard drive in two socks which, naturally, didn't offer greatest of protection during shipping.

Rescue Mishap

After a little fire broke out in the study dep. of a UK college. Well-meaning fire fighters forcibly attacked with water, soaking all the PCs and servers in the process...

Goodness Greases!

A school professor said he heard his drive squeaking. He opened it and sprayed it with lubricant. The drive stopped squeaking, and subsequently stopped working too.
